We are besieged by doubters and haters everywhere. Our youth have lost faith in the ideals of our Founding Fathers. The values and traditions that have made America the freest country in the world and a beacon and inspiration to billions are being trampled upon. Our remarkable Constitution, the bedrock of our democracy, is being torn to shreds. We are slowly imploding and if we fail to change course, our hallowed nation could crumble.
But I still have hope – and faith – in America.
Two hundred and fifty years ago, God brought America into the world like the Christ child – not to perish but to prosper and to spread the Gospel of a better way to live and love each other. We were consecrated at birth, and despite the evil that continually seeks to undermine us, we endure. Satan – and the forces within our society and from without that serve him – would love to see us perish. They want to tear us apart, and tear us down, and see the beautiful Grace-filled experiment that is America cease to exist.
We’re not going to let it happen.
By “we”, I mean not just we Christians. The “we” is actually much larger.
When Donald Trump was nominated and then elected in 2016 – miraculously, it seemed, at the time – it was a sign of Divine Providence. We were being called to resist and rebel, to cast off cynicism and division and to recover our national purpose. Trump called us to “Make America Great Again,” and millions upon millions of Americans – many of them who had never voted before – showed up at rallies and answered the call.
